Anyone bought a new car lately?

I would buy a Honda. My DH used to be a mechanic and thinks they are still the best car out there. I have a 95 Accord. He had it apart to service last month and says the engine looks like it has about 10,000 miles on it. Really has almost 175K and still runs like 10K. I plan to get a newer car when this one falls apart but at this rate I will probably fall apart first.LOL :-)

WOW, I gan't imagine getting a new car as a gift. I got my first new car ever 2 years ago at age 45. My brother bought his son a new car it was a honda he was later in a pretty bad wreck, Jake came out without a scracth, he raved about the saftey features.
I have never bought a car for a teen, my sons had the family old reliable to drive to work till they saved up enough to buy their own car/truck with cash....I am proud to say my youngest son saved up 10 grand and bought his first "good truck" cash paid in full. it is his third truck and first really nice one and he is so proud.

My son was the only one of the kids that got a car my DH fixed it all up but son had to pay for windshild and breaks plus ins and tags on his own. The first time he took it to school he backed into an other student, he paid out of his pocket for the repairs. He learned a good lesson with it he now drives a tractortrailer sp? and has a clean record. he drives slower than I do says I am a speed deamon,I don't go over the speed limit.

If you are determined to spend all that money on a niece, why not get the older car and put the rest into some college money for her? And suggest nicely that she get a job to pay insurance and maintenance? It'll make her grow up faster.

i would say dont buy her a new car by her an older ford and have her pay all insurance repaires and gas. my brother and i had to pay for our first vehcles and we became fairly responible drivers. my dad bought my sister a car and she dident take care of it and blew it up cause she never checked the oil on it even after my husband and brother told her the car had an oil leak and she should check it and top it up every week or two. i think giving kids to much stuff for free is giving them a false impresion on life. Im not going to give my kids a car or pay there whole college bill. I finished college almost five years ago and to many off my freinds wasted there time partying and drinking (there parents gave them a free ride) the students who actualy got an education where the older ones who payed for there education themseves. sorry this is so long i'll get off my soap box now.

I have been looking online at cars but of course they all claim to be the best ever. What car would you or have you bought for a teen?
