I worked in an ICU for quite a while and what we used for patients was Benadryl 25MG and Extra strength tylenol with it....take one and if not asleep an hour later you can take another one. One works very well for me. I take it about an hour before I want to go to sleep.

Some of my friends swear by Chamille tea. It's supposed to relax you.
Me, all I have to do is close my eyes and get simi-reclined and off I go. I sleep on trains, planes and cars (that is, unless I'm at the wheel!!).

I gave up and got some medical help.... it works most of the time now...
I've used melatonin and it worked off and on for me...
Note: most over the counter sleep meds ( non prescription) is basically Benadyl..... when I have a hard time sleeing for several nights, I will add 25 mg of benadyl to my nightly meds.... usually does he trick

I have used it and sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't...It depends on if I just can't sleep, or if my not being able to sleep is because I can't shut my brain down (stress, etc)...then it doesn't do any good....It can't hurt to try it... :)
