Anyone watching Food Revolution with Jamie Oliver?

I don't live in LA but I was fuming! Those school board members need to be fed every ounce of that ammonia washed ground beef. How horrible to want to hide what really is being served and cooked in the schools. What are they hiding?
This morning I did research myself about the ammonia washed beef and Jamie was right. It's being sold in grocery stores. Most all fast food places and many restaurants and the biggest buyer is school cafeterias. Now way to tell if you are buying it, no law says it has to be labeled as soaked in ammonia. As the ammonia is not an ingredient but a process.

I am a food service manager and assistant to the director of the local school corporation. Until recently a large portion of the meat we served came directly from the govt. Now almost all of our meat is process through the same companies you find in the grocery stories, Tyson, JennieO, for example.
We do our very best to serve healty, low fat choices daily. But, what do our customers (the students) want? Chicken!
Chicken nuggets, tenders, O's. LOL

It's not the school food service people that is at fault. It's the ones that make the contracts to buy the food. The cheaper the contract the better. The supplier has to make a profit so every corner that can be cut is cut. Clean the waste meat with ammonia and press it into patties is all profit. It's actually free meat to the manufacturer.
Look what else I found:
Apparently someone decided that beaver anal glands enhanced sweets, including vanilla ice cream and many raspberry products.
In the United States, Castoreum has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a food additive, often referenced simply as a "natural flavoring" in the product's list of ingredients. It is commonly used in both food and beverages, especially as vanilla flavoring.
Castoreum is the exudate from the castor sacs of the mature North American Beaver. Castoreum is the yellowish secretion of the castor sac in combination with the beaver's urine, used during scent marking of territory.
