I bought some plants and as I was checking out I picked up her business card and lo and behold!!!! MY phone # was on it. It was her old FAX #! She apologized, said she hadn't had the # in 2 yrs. Okay -- so be it. I was nice last year to people when they called. Well, I started getting them again THIS year!!! I just talked to a woman (after running into the house to answer the phone because I'm waiting for a call)....she said she was at the nursery last Saturday and picked up a NEW card and my # is on it!!!! ARRRRRRGH!!!! Well, I tried to call the nursery.....yeah, so much for customer service....the voice mail gives her open hours and then hangs up on you!!! I'm going to have to go over there and talk to her AGAIN.....I'm really finding it very hard to be nice to her!!!! And some people wonder why they can't stay in business...... :hunf:

thanks for letting me vent.
I have had the same phone number for 35 years & I get calls from Krogers Pharmacy fax machine all the time.

Unfortunately, phone numbers are recycled very quickly these days. I think they only stay in the tank for 40 days and after that the number is given out. This is true with cell phone numbers. People change them so frequently. Be happy you aren't receiving any of those phone calls from ex girlfriends, or boyfriends, where the language leaves a lot to be desired.

I just MIGHT tell people she's out of business.

OH -- I just got a call from a bill collector.....!!! My DH was married, adopted the woman's daughter. When they divorced the daughter told him she didn't want to ever see him again. 2 yrs ago she called out of the blue. We went to Washington to meet up with her. Hard feelings were supposidly forgotten. She was all sweet and nice. THEN she said she was out of a job. We did NOT offer money. Now two yrs later we find out she's giving our name & # as references for her bills!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRGH!!!

I think I might open up a bottle of wine today!
I have been having this problem with my ex. He is giving my phone # as his and I am getting a ton of calls. I would call him on it but I can't find him. He doesn't want to see the kids and has never spent any time with DGD (she is seven). The only way I know to stop it is to change my number. What a pain.

I know how frustrating this can be. Our number used to be one number off from the pizza place that delivers. You got it...2 a.m. pizza orders. We finally took the orders and told them it would be 1/2 hour for delivery....we had to change our number finally! Wasn't the pizza place's fault - it was the folks ordering pizza.

Sign it, date it, and mail it so that it has to be signed for. That should do it. Or you could just answer you phone and say, "We don't want your business, try __________ " and give them the name of another nursery. LOL
Great idea. In the interim, get a notepad and start taking orders from the people who call. Name, address, phone number, email. Don't take their payment just tell them to pay when they receive a statement. Set up delivery dates if that is part of the order. Diligently write the orders down on the notepad just as if you were the business owner. Don't be lax, remember everything the order would include.
Send the notepad paper to the store owner every 6 months until she shows you proof the problem has been resolved./Regards, Dorothy

What a great idea. You'll be able to show her all the business she's losing. Can't beat a quilter for creative ideas. LOL

After my X moved out the phone company asked if I wanted to change the phone to my name only. I told her it would cost me $20 for the order to change the billing and if I didn't pay the bill anyway it would be turned off. After years of no child support I left an unpaid bill in his name after I moved. Wasn't much but sure felt good!! P.S. I told oldest son (who is a Jr.) to make sure all his billing is in his name as Jr. LOL

I can relate to this as my cell number is close to a number for someone in another community close by. A young lady kept calling asking for a young man and I repeatedly told her that she had the wrong number. After putting up with this for months (at all hours of the night) I got sort of nasty about it. I finally told her that I was his new girlfriend and that if she wanted to talk to him that she had to wait while I got him out of bed and for him to put his "pants" back on!!!! After that one the calls finally stopped. :D I know...evil but I got tired of the calls coming in waking me at 3 am or later.

My mother gets calls for Larry's tractor service all the time and tells people that she is positive that she isn't the new secretary and please look up to correct number. Most are polite but then again...

This happened to me when Spiegal came to Rapid City many years ago. It was the billing and catalog center. They were nasty. So when I started having their customers leave messages, I called them back and eplained the problem. At first tele co would do nothing. Well, finally, I blew my cool and talked with ther head honcho of tele co. He was mortified no one at tele co did nothing. Within hours, it was fixed.

So I understand!!!!! :?
