Your story was too funny. It reminds me...3 years I went from teaching 2nd grade to teaching kdg. On the first day of school, my asst and I take the kiddos to the bathroom...did you know that most 5year olds know nothing about automatic flushers?!! They were terrified!!! That had to have been the moment I realized that kdg was a whole new world! LOL

I just can't stand it - I've got a pain from laughing! You've got a real talent for telling a tale. That was just so wonderful.

The first experience I ever had with an automatic toilet was in France about 25 years ago. My daughter lived in Germany and during a vistit with her, she and her husband took me to Paris. We came to a rest stop on the highway and decided to stay for lunch, but went to the restroom first. I was shocked first of all because I couldn't open the door to the stall and people were looking at me like I was nuts. Turns out you had to put a coin in the slot! American money didn't work, of course, so I had to get a coin from my daughter. Such a rigamarol. This was wierd. I had never had to pay to pee before. So anyway, I get in there and did what I had to do and as soon as I stood up, the toilet flushed all by itself. I jumped and let out a little scream. What an experience. When I walked out of the stall, people were looking at me again. I guess they were thinking I was just another crazy American! Anyway, turns out these toilets automatically flushed periodically whether you were ready or not! Boy was I glad I finished between flushes!

I encountered one that flushed when you opened the door to go in, flushed when you sat down, flushed when you got up, AND flushed again when you opened the door to leave! Definitely needed it's sensor adjusted...

All the bathrooms at my work have those, and they are ultra-sensitive. YOu can't move, breathe, or blink, they just keep flushing. A lot of outside people come to our building for conferences, meetings, etc., and it cracks me up everytime I'm in one of the stalls, and hear women come in, and immediately the toilets start flushing, and they're all trying to talk over the flushing, and then they get more and more exasperated. I take care of the problem by hanging a piece of toilet paper over the sensor...no more flushing.
