If it is a public domain picture of the smiley face, perhaps that person did not know it was your avatar when she first picked it. I mean, I don't know everyone's avatar on this board, it would be hard to. I use pictures of my quilts or flowers in my garden. I like people who have pix of themselves as their avatar. I haven't gotten that brave yet. I like your elephants.

You are the better person for changing it and your elephants are cute.
I try to update Olivia's pic every other month, does that cause confusion?

I don't think so. It isn't identical to any one else's. Changing pictures wasn't the issue; using the same one as another person was the issue, She's unique and a cute little thing! My granddaughters are all older. No babies to love on........dang!

Elephants are WONDERFUL! I love them, especially the babies. Re: the other avatar, I could see that she might unknowingly copy yours, as we don't all read the same posts, but I'm surprised at her response when you asked her to give it up ... that you had it first. That's very odd!

 You are the photographer of the big guy!? How super cool.
    That is really cool!
That is indeed cool, k3n. The gorilla makes me snicker every time I see it identified as Admin. It is a hoot.

Love the elephants. As for the avatar, I'd think this falls into the "small stuff" category of Don't sweat the small stuff. Give yourself 5 minutes to be mad and then let it go.
