My favorite baby quilt for my own DD had a ruffled edge. I notice that no one seems to finish their baby girl baby quilts with a ruffled edge. Is it just that fashion has changed or is it just personal preference? I'm waiting to hear if my next great grandchild will be the long awaited girl and I hope if it is, I hope her mother will accept pink and girly clothes and quilts. She wanted cameo for her boys. Are there any other grandmothers longing for pink frills and ruffles and not unisex clothing?

Go ahead and sew one with ruffles, a girl will show up sooner or later, or some special girl child will come into your life and will adore a Girly type of quilt. Then you will have one already made to give some special little girl.
Go ahead, you know you're just quivering with eagerness to make one!!
And while you're at it, make one in blue with prairie points.

my great grandmother had 2 girls those girls had 2 girls each. now my generation my older sister had 2 girls, my younger sister had 2 girls And I had 1 girl though adopted. An cousins were in the same girl mode.... the next generation.
Each girl has had boy, cousins had boys, my great neices both have new boys. Another boy due 8/18. We are holding our breath.....a neice due 9/28 and she and we long for pink and ruffles. but they are not going to find out the gender......I have pink fabric......just hoping.

I love ruffles and both DD's had lots of dresses with ruffles. But my little grandaughter, Lexi,(who is 5) is terrified of ruffles. She hates them and refuses to wear clothes with ruffles on them. LOL!! I once made some jammies that had ruffles on the legs, big ruffles and didn't think she would notice, but she did!! She cried and made me cut them off. We have never figure out why she is afraid of and hates ruffles.
I wouldn't dare make her quilt with ruffles. Poor baby would run screaming if I did. LOL!!!

I too love ruffles and am awaiting a grandchild-- Hopfully grandaughter in Dec. When I sewed for my two daughters they got their share of ruffles and lace and trims of many kinds. I had one dress and one sundress pattern and changed just the collars and embelishments on each one. Just loved doing it .
Hope we both get girls !
