I am always looking for new ways to do things; I love learning. Oh, and I'm really going to date myself: i loved the Royal typewriters in my high school typing class, Remingtons were my second choice. And I was in 7th Heaven when the IBM Selectrics became available in the work world! I still keep a typewriter available in my office; there are times when you just have to fill out a form manually (wish I still had a Selectric!!)

I miss my Selectric II, also. I gave it to my now DIL - but she did not take very good care of it and I think it ended up in the trash somewhere. And I had about 20 different balls to go with it!

Don't knock it! My email address is still at AOL -- too lazy to change it.

I willingly try new things if they makes sense and if I've been looking for a different way (even if it turns out not to be easier). But if someone is pressuring me to do it their way, I inwardly (sometimes outwardly) balk. I will usually comply in the name of getting along/learning/proving I'm not a hard head (ha), but if it seems illogical, complicated, wasteful, or for any other reason not good in my judgment, I'll return to my way . Often I'm surprised.

My mom was always really good at teaching us the "why" behind the "how" so that if we ever forgot "how," we'd know the "why" and find a way that works.

I was quite amused sometime in the fall of last year, I went into one of our local craft stores, and there, sitting in grand display, was a new typewriter for sale! As I recall, it was white or beige. I, being the curious sort, went to find a store sales clerk, or assistant, and took her back to this display and asked her what was the purpose of this typewriter. She said it was to use in creating greeting cards! It was around $89.00. Oh My, the old is new again! LOL!

The one constant in life is change.

My mind is curious and I'm always wondering if there's another way to do something. I also like to try new foods. All this drives my husband nuts but I tell him it keeps him young as he has to keep adapting to me.

When you talk about typewriters, I wish I still had my old Remington. With keys each on their own post, there was nothing electric about it but daily use sure increased my typing speed.

I'll always try a new way. Sometimes, I'll even make up a new way.
"How come I can't do it like that?" Sometimes, I find out.
Sometimes, I get lucky and come up with a short cut.
