Exclamation Beware-if you download software from cnet.com or download.com read this

I happened to remember this when I was reading a thread in another part of the forum. If you ever download from download.com or cnet, which used to be reputable sites, read this.

I used to always trust CNET for downloads but will be more careful now. I do always uncheck all those stupid toolbars and search engines they want to install along with the program. And I run a weekly Microsoft Security Essentials scan, as well as CCleaner, Malwarebytes, and other programs to catch the bad stuff.

That's just gross. You used to be able to trust cnet.
It's getting to the point where there's not a lot of point being on the net anymore. You can't even tell who the good guys are anymore.

I was setting up my new-to-me laptop and needed a solitaire game that DH likes. Keeping this in mind, I was very careful when downloading it (It did go thru CNET) and I hit "Decline" for everything except the game , I thought.

Something called "Lucky Leap" got on there anyway! I had to remove it. Very annoying.

Run something like Malwarebytes regularly and esp., after you download something.
