Freeze them by washing them off and putting them into freezer bags and freezing them. Later when its cooler, take them out, cooking them until tender, run them through a squeezer with the berry screen, and make jelly.
I keep mine through the winter, and make my jell in the spring-pre-summer heat. Then my freezer is ready for more berries!!

The best use of blackberries ever IMO, make your own Blackberry Vodka for a special Christmas liqueur
1 litre supermarket own label vodka
600g freshly picked blackberries
300g sugar
Add the blackberries and sugar to a storage jar, a Wine making glass jar is idea, close the jar and give the jar a good shake to make sure the contents are thoroughly stirred up. Repeat this every day for a month. It takes a few days for the sugar to fully dissolve.
Then shake it up once a month for the following two months. (Try not to test it each time, hard but .....)
Serve neat, chilled in a special glass.
Drain off the fruit and serve on top of Ice cream, ADULTS only

My blackberries are always so extremely sour! I'm growing a variety called Illini, which I chose because it was the most hardy. But... I would have to add as much sugar as there are berries.
Anybody else growing other varieties that are sweeter?

For long term use, I always put them in an upside down ice cream cone thingey with holes in it. It was on a stand and had a similar shaped wooden pusher that smashed the juice out of the berries.
No one in my family liked jam with seeds, but loved jelly without.
I also froze a lot of the juice with a touch of lemon juice. Don't know now if it was really necessary, but since I had a lemon tree out back....
Like my sister, I would make the jellies, and let them set to see if the lids "popped" when pushing them down. After a week or so, I would label them "Blackberry Jelly" and if they were still liquid even though sealed, then I labeled them "Blackberry Pancake Syrup" and all were happy.

Cobbler, pie, jam, preserves, blackberry ice cream, syrup for your pancakes. Freeze them and use in fruit smoothies.
Personally I love having the seeds in there. When I shop for preserves, I always look for the kind that still has the seeds.
