Would there be any way to search for a particular poster within a given thread?
Example: KLue started the Dear Jane Christmas Block Swap thread
I would like to go back and review everything that Rhonda posted -
without having to look back at everything else.

Re: Search function
Is there any particular order that the found items show up in?
What is the protocol (is that the right word?) for listing the found items?

bearisgray, first I want to switch the board and iron out all bugs and any critical issues that affect the core functionality.
Once it's running smoothly, I can start adding features.
As for the search, right now I'm not sure if I'm going to continue using this engine or get a new one.
What we have now is run with Apache Lucene. If you are interested in specifics of ranking, you can find more information here:
http://lucene.apache.org/java/docs/

Thank you for responding.
I'm not really complaining - just wondering if - - -
I have no idea of what can be done (easily) or not - -
Who would have imagined that the iphone type devices would be relatively common 50 years ago? (Actually, sci-fi and fantasy writers, and the person that did the Dick Tracy comic strip)

Basically, I was wondering it items were retrieved by most recent date, or if it searched a particular category first - such as main, and then by date
or if it just started at the beginning of the file - wherever or whatever that might be - and just listed items as they were found
I wanted to know what time it was - not how the clock runs! :?

It tries to rank results by relevance to the query. Time and section doesn't play any role in sorting.
