Bobbins -

Yesterday a friend came over so I could help her finish a quilt that her mom had pieced. The bobbins she brought didn't fit my machine so I rewound them. Every one had a variety of colors underneath.

This is slightly off topic but I have some old threads on wooden spools that I used to collect and a lot of them have various threads on each one. I don't use them. Just pretty to look at the wooden spools.

Most of the time it works out just fine. The thread runs out and you bring up the new thread. But I have had it jam up a time or two when there were two threads wound on the bobbin. I don't do that anymore.

I've been piecing scrappy blocks, emptied 5 partial bobbins.
I have quite a few bobbins for the machines that get used the most. I machine quilt, so need at least 10 bobbins.
I don't wind another color on a partial bobbin, it can affect tension.
