I drink water out of the tap. I live in far northen California. and our water is pure, safe and very soft and sweet. Infact our water is bottled by a National well knowen company not to far from here. So why should I buy water when I already have the best.

i do now and then, but try to avoid it because of all the
chemicals in the plastic. When a lady with an Autistic son
told me her doctor suggested that she only give the child
ONE bottle of plastic water a MONTH, then I began to look
around the Internet and became rather nervous about it.

Unfortunately, we live in a chemical sewer in this world, and
in the end, all we can do is try to choose the method that will
do the least harm. And unless you're a chemical engineer,
that is more difficult than I can figure out myself. I guess that
I was lucky in growing up way back in the mountains of WV,
a long time ago when the world was less polluted.

Good drinking water is something I have free and full access to, but water is not something I take for granted. We have a well and are conscious of usage. We also have a collection of metal water bottles that we carry drinking water in when we travel. I do not buy water and drink tap water wherever I go, as there are many regulations that keep our tap water clean.

I will even fill my own bottle in a hotel bathroom tap rather than take a bottle of water at a conference. Weird? It's my own small way of appeasing my social conscience. I can't change the world, but can change myself. Some water bottling companies go into third world countries, drill massive wells to bottle the water, lower the water table and leave. I won't support that.

But, I'm lucky and live with options. Here in Canada, though, there is a lot of discussion happening around water. We have lots, and water is being hailed as the oil of the 20th century.

Interesting topic, this. Here's more to think about.....

We have very good tap water from our water well, and we also have the same water filtered through the fridge for ice and cold drinking water. We do drink bottled water once in a while for convenience, and I like citrus-flavored mineral water.

I can get distilled gallons for 79 cents in some places, $1.00 in most places.

I can get cases of individual bottles of purified tap (Aquafina) or mineralized (Nestle's) for 25 cents/bottle (usually $3 - $4/case) at Wal-mart and some supermarkets.

Again, I'm not trying to push it, but there no need to pay "gourmet" prices OR to drink questionable-quality tap.

I'm also not suggesting anyone drink more water. 8 cups per day is not a cure-all for everyone.

Nope. Have a filter on the faucet so don't need it. Too expensive. And I drink water 24/7.

Nevada has the worst water quality. DH installed a Reverse Osmosis system.
We distill reverse osmosis water for the purest best tasting water you can ever drink

I drink the water, probably from the same sourse underground, well water, from the tap. For all the ideas stated in the second part of #1.

I guess it's an old story but the other day they had people on tv that can actually light what comes out of their tap with a cigarette lighter, supposedly due to the local drilling for natural gas.
