We have stink bugs, but my problem is a male robin. He flies against my windows because he sees his reflection and thinks it is an intruder into his territory. He flies against the window, back to the railing, against the window. It is a wonder he doesn't knock himself out. Talk about a mess: on the windows, sill, brick, bannister and floor. I have aluminum w/string attached with painter's tape on the front of my home. This has worked. So, he then attacks the back. More aluminum . . . . I'll be glad when mating season is over.

I see a few box elder bugs around here, but not many. Also, no box elder trees, so.....
We do get those Asian beetles and mosquitos and June bugs and ticks and chiggers and just about every other aggravating critter. I hope the buffalo gnats are not bad this year. Remember when they were really bad about 4 years ago? Peoples' chickens were being suffocated by gnats! I kept a fan on my chickens that summer. The wind helped keep the gnats away.

FWIW, I just read that one way of dealing with them is by putting a little soapy water in a wet vac and pulling them in, where they will drown. They are not known to be house pest, don't do excessive damage to the trees and don't bite except possibly in rare instances. If you see them outdoors, they're not considered a problem, but indoors their feces can stain things.
Cashs_mom, I live farther north than you and have also started to see June bugs, in spite of a lot of cool nights in April so far. They're food for the birds, I guess.

we had such a weird "spring" weather-wise--box elder hasn't shown up yet, which is unusual, but the June bugs have appeared this week and they are usually later. Both are messy, but the real problem here is the ticks are starting to become a health problem.
