Just purchased a 10 piece set of Cuisinart, Eco-Green, for g-daughter. She is starting her 2nd year at Univ of South Carolina. It is on sale this weekend at Belk Dept stores for 1/2 price. Never been this cheap usually only 20% off.

A cookware manufacturer told me always buy cookware from a restaurant supply house for the best quality of the name brands. Like fabric, there are different quality of the same thing. I have several sizes of Lodge cast iron skillets, pans and pots. I love the lids! Using a cast iron lid is almost like using a pressure cooker. My favorite cookware is All Clad. I use the cast iron lids on those! I bought the Green cookware and it is very nice to cook an egg, but high heat will warp it fast. So really it defeats it's own purpose. I bought a restaurant grade skillet at Sam's Club not long ago. It is almost as good as the All Clad. It's aluminium no non stick coating, plain shinny metal, and I know it is considered unhealthy to use aluminium cookware but this skillet rocks! I'll chance the unhealthy.

we picked up some titanium cookware with ceramic non-stick coating at Costco a few years ago. I didn't fight SIL over my grandmother's cast iron skillet when mom passed, and I don't really regret it - I got the rest of her Farberware and the ancient corningware glass mixing bowls.

I honestly prefer the old stuff, even if the handles aren't as shiny as they used to be. My mom's stainless utensils have got to be older than I am (and are still great) and I've had to replace all my stuff several times already because they just wear out.

Cast iron has to be the very best. I have my grandfather's deep frying pan so seasoned. But they break my wrists! LOL

Cast iron is the preferred cookware at our house and I like it a lot. Of course, I don't cook so my husband has to heft it while cooking. I only do dishes. :-D
