Can anyone tell me...

A few of my mother's generation have active Facebook accounts. I come from a really large Irish family, so the number of old photos is limited and the number of the tribe is LARGE. I now have photos of my great grandparents, grandparents and assorted family members that I never even saw before. Plus, I keep up with my daughter and siblings. I like it very much.

Keeping in touch with family that lives far away.
That said, I recently cancelled my account. Too many people I don't particularly like wanted to add me. I think it's rude to not acknowledge the requests, so I gracefully bowed out.
I have enough trouble keeping up with this lovely lot.

I keep up with my family and have found friends there. I even have gotten work from it! I network with others in my business and related businesses.
I don't play the games. Oh- everyone comments on how I post how much stuff I do- canning, sewing, etc. (I have 2 friends that say they check what I put there all the time- they like the fact it's always positive.)
I have friends from the qb here as my friends- I like that I have a huge circle of friends with many interests.
Oh- I only "friend" people I know.

I don't really ever post on FB, but I enjoy checking in from time to time, especially to see photos of friends and family too far away to see regularly. I have limited who I am "friends" with by hiding my profile from view of any but friends/family.

I signed up, don't post much but it is a good way to keep in touch with F&F without emailing each and every person to say "What's new with you?
Even connected with some kids I grew up with many, many years ago.
PLEASE tell me how you block the gaming updates, I have one pal that does that, don't know where she gets the time.

When your cursor is over someone's status or farmville update or whatever, a small X appears to the right of their name. If you click on it, it gives you the option of blocking or hiding either the game updates or the person's updates from your view.
