Move to Maine and you can buy at least two houses for that money.

The house that I really would like to have doesn't exist in real life. I want the Victorian house from Practical Magic.

I did find the house plans for it.

    LOL.

What would you buy if you had a fairy godmother to lend you the money?
Surely, you can find a Victorian for less money and better shape than this one in your area. Any realtor could put your "wants" in a computer and let you know when one shows up. They get ALL listings PDQ. Check with those for sale by owner, too. There are also 2 sites I know of that feature vintage homes. One is Historic Properties and the other is Vintage Homes. You can Google them. They cover the entire country but you can narrow the search.

Good luck! I, too LOVE vintage homes!

It looks like it will need a lot of work done on it.

What is a lot of money for a house in one state, is not in another. I know there are states I could not possibly afford to live and where it would be hard to buy something nice for that amount, let alone land! When I see the prices of homes in places like Virginia and California and compare them to where I live in PA OMG I dont know how anyone can buy them and how much money you must need to maintain them, utilities and taxes!

wow !! good luck on that one .. I smell double the $$ that would have to be in a savings account for future expenditures. Most of those victorian homes will need LOTS of upkeep !! LOL Great dream tho !!!
