Incredible Queen Ann Victorian. Wonderful fireplaces, pocket doors, original woodwork, porte cochere, balconies, stained glass, butler's pantry.
    I like this house better!

Oh Charlee, it's all a matter of perspective. We live in Oregon because it's so much CHEAPER than Southern California.

I would put 200k in the bank and use the rest to buy a house needing less updating and something that only has a couple steps to the porch :-) with a lot more acreage between me and any neighbors.. I really hate living in the city

I would invest in this house as a quilting retreat:

This is a link to the house listing but I'll post some details here also.
    http://www.realtor.com/realestateand...567?source=web

The house is two stories and also has an attic access (but not a full attic as far as I know.) They have three wood burning fireplaces, a very spacious kitchen, dining room, den, and living room. This house honestly has everything, even a man cave in the basement (which also has a full bar). I'm really just getting started here, but you can find more information from that link.

If you are like me and enjoy drooling over historic houses for little money, you need to check this out. It's the "Save This Old House" feature on TOH magazine.

I remember passing a house like this in my childhood and always being in awe of it.
