can you do math?

LMBO!! I never was great at math, on paper okay, but not in my head. My hubby can do it in his head, fast and pretty accurate most of the time. HIs job involved spending thousands of dollars purchasing supplies for IBM, so over the years his skill increased while mine decreased. Thank God for calculators!! When I'm trying to figure how much fabric I need to make X number of strips or squares, I work it out using graph paper. or by making a little drawing on paper. Works for me!

I love this topic. My daughter asks me to go shopping when she makes curtains for her house. I wonder why? She does not ask my opinion on the fabric, We go sit at the pattern book table where she gets out her pen and paper and the measurement of her windows. Guess what Mama is good for!
figuring out the necessary yardage.
Oh well, nice to be good for something.

As a former math teacher and retired accountant, yes I like math! I just 'designed' a 6 sided flower to use as a quilting design. That was fun. Had to get out the compass.
I was doing some 'deep' cleaning last week, and ran across my slide rule from high school. I tossed it. Calculators are so much easier!!

I always loved math! Now the geometry helps when designing, resizing or adapting quilt patterns. It's a lot more fun than figuring very specific drug calculations (I am a retired RN). Now the new RNs have everything premixed.
