With not reading the whole thread..... I don't think he's a pup. If the tail is docked and the male "endowment" isn't too much, then he's been to a vet before and been fixed and the tail has been docked. I'd take him to the vet to be totally checked out and they will be able to tell you age, breed(s), and perhaps even have seen him before.

Sounds like our toy poodle that we got from the shelter. She had long knotted hair...long ears...long legs, and a nub for a tail. Looks like they (whoever she ran away from ) cut tail tooooo short. After grooming, she looked just like a poodle...put a puff of hair over the tail nub. She is a love and we would not be without her. So smart and loves people, children, and life.

Ah Nancy he is so cute. We had a Jack Russel dumped on us last summer. She has turned out to be a doll and so loving. Hates my cats though.

I hope your trip to the vet will go well. The vet may have opinions as to his age and all. We always called the strays that came to us Curbside Setters.

Yeah this was my guess too. Thanks for taking the poor little guy in. He needed some TLC.

We have a Golden Retriever that someone dumped. She was heartworm positive, yeast infection in her ears and on her skin, also very skinny. Molly has gained about 30# now. I don't understand how someone could take the time to train her and then just dump her. She is so sweet and loves everyone, gets along with my other dogs.
We've had her 9 months now and she is finally healthy.

How lucky for him. I would have a vet check him out he may just have a bladder infection. Something simple. It may be why he was dumped.
Cute little guy. Good luck with hime
