There were a couple on the list I remember.............Blue bells, cockle shells and Down by the River. I wonder if some on the list are what they're jumping rope to now a days.

Wow! So many of the songs are now politically incorrect!

Too funny! I don't remember singing songs when we jumped rope but I do remember a few of the ones mentioned. Really takes me back!

Cinderella dressed in yella went downstairs to kiss a fella.
How many kisses did she get? Then you did "red hots" while counting out loud. When you mess up jumping, that's how many kisses she got!

Then there was the circle tag version that required a long jump rope and more than 3 people. Have two friends twirl a jump rope while the jumper chants: "Queen bee chasing me, I dare (call a friend's name) to catch me." The leader jumps three times after the chant, then out, and runs around to the other side as the friend whose name was called jumps in. The friend jumps three times, then out and runs around and tries to tag the leader before she jumps back in. The process is repeated with two jumps, then one until someone is tagged or misses the jump.

i was just thinking about jump rope songs and the hand clapping songs the other day!

We learned that Miss Suzy had a baby and that was one of those patty cake songs with many verses; it went on for ever!
