I get snail mail from those scamming tax lawyers "wanting" to "assist" me in resolving our IRS debt........

    Funny thing is ......

It was resolved years ago and the IRS OWED us Ten Grand.....LOL

Deanna, I think you're supposed to report those scam e-mails - but I'm not sure who to send it to... your e-mail provider maybe?

I just filed our quarterly estimates via the IRS website. It says, on the first page, that they will NEVER contact me via E-Mail.

    Number 1 reason?

IRS does not communicate by e-mail!

As a former cop I can also tell you that you can receive e-mails that look like they have the right e-mail address, except it might be "UPS.com" instead of "United Parcel Service.com" - just a made up example. The one that comes all the time has a title of UPS Package notification - same from post office. Unless you are expecting tracking info, don't open.

Also, it sounds basic, but ANY call you get from a company that asks ANY personal info, confirm a cell phone # etc. hang up! All companies do important correspondence these days via mail and/or in person. You would be surprised what slips through.

You would not believe all the people that do fall for this.

IRS never sends out Emails, (that I know off).
Snail mail is more like it.
