Be very careful about what sites you visit. I found out the hard way that there are a lot of copy cat sites on Google and if you click on them they will launch a slew of problems for you.

I was comparison shopping for flea pills and HeartGuard for my puppers and I thought I was getting on PetMeds.com and it was not their site. This thing sent all sorts of crud on my new laptop and I didnt find out until this morning when it would not boot up right. I had to go into the thing in safe mode and reset it to a day that I new it was running great.

I pride myself on having a bullet proof computer but I think I met my match yesterday. So I ended up spending all day today cleaning my wifes computer out and working on mine and getting both of them back to being "Hack Proof". I have lots of rare documents and information on vintage sewing machines on here and if I could not get back into it they would be all gone forever. :(

And lots of the stuff I have on here, I am the only person on the planet that has the information. So Sunday I am running a back up DVD so I will never loose any of it.

Hey Billy, you just reminded me of something. I signed up for that site you mentioned and I still haven't heard if I'm accepted!
    Thanks for the surfing tips.

My laptop has 2 firewalls, 3 spyware/malware programs, 2 of the best Antivirus programs you can get, Piroform CCleaner, and I still got bit.

But today I upgraded to Firefox 4 and added two more add on's so now I am invisible to the other servers. Only the sites do I trust am I even visible. Also my keystrokes are encrypted and all of my files are overwriten 32 times in Logarithms. I should be able to send this computer to the bowels of Hell and back and come out clean as a whistle.

Billy, If you don't have one, invest in a removeable drive and copy your important files to it. I do genealogy and have 1000's of family photos. So much better to have a copy than to risk losing the document.

I do not know if you want to spend the money but I am very happy with Carbonite. I have peace of mind knowing that all my files are safely secured and I can get them back anytime I want or if I get a new computer they will be automatically transferred. Not trying to promote them but I have used them for 3 years and am very happy with the service.

Thanks for the tips. I have an external hard drive and have been copying stuff on to DVD's (even bought covers and made titles and indexed them). The trick is to remember to keep on top of it!

One word, backup!! I finally bit the bullet and bought an external hard drive that is plugged into my computer at night and backs up certain files. You can also use a flash drive to back up files every so often. Just remember where you put that little bitty thing!!:)

OOps, others have the same idea, good!!!!

    Billy--
    I use Firefox also.
Can I ask which add on's you downloaded to make you invisible and keystrokes encrypted? Thanks
