I have never seen anybody leave a cart in a JoAnn's parking lot so I can't understand that. If your store has that prob. though & homeless people walk off with them, I could understand it.

I think to because they would have to pay someone to go and get the carts and this is how they help to keep costs down, I personally think its a good idea, if you take it out, you s/b willing to take it back, but some people are lazy and leave their carts between cars or in the handy cap spots, this way you may be enticed to return the cart.

My cousin says they do that in some stores in upper state NY. Carts are expensive and here in FL, I see them blocks away from the stores they belong to. I suppose once you get used to the idea, it does make sense.

Our Aldi store has always had a .25 charge but you get it back when you return the cart. I always return my cart to the store or the cart corral. I don't like it when I try to pull into a spot and there are carts in the space.

A few years ago our local grocery store had them. They got rid of them after a while. I think you got your quarter back when you returned the cart. They moved to the wheel lock carts. Now unless you park very close to the store - very close - the wheels jam and you have to drag and scrape the cart across the lot.
