These are very prominent in the Pacific Northwest. I can remember once standing in my neighbor's front yard with a group of people. The dogs had been playing in the yard and we thought the siamese cat has gotten in the middle of it. I bent down to pick it up and someone shined a flashlight. OMG, it was an opposum. After a good rain, they are road kill everywhere. Nasty, nasty, critters!!!!

There was a HUGE one taken out of my neighbors house about a year ago. It must have been at least 25 pounds. And I live in the suburbs of Los Angeles! They can be very mean.

I'll send my dog Rocky over. He took a leap off the steps a few nights ago and grabbed one by the throat. It did its little playing dead thing and I thought the dog had killed it, until it got up and ran away.

I went out one night because I heard something on the deck thinking it was one of my cats. not so! it was a bobcat. I was startled and so was it. Now I look out before opening the door.
