I love all these responses, because I threatened everyone with their life if they ever touched my sewing sissors and always kept many different pairs around the house. To this day the Grandkids always ask if its OK to use "these" sissors before they pick them up. LOLOL

You can always get a new scissor, but GOOD HUSBANDS are hard to find.

I bought my DH several pairs of cheap scissors for him to use. We keep one in the silverware drawer - and it goes missing frequently! That's his 'go-to' scissor in the house. Have to admit I use it a lot, too! He also has his won scissor in the garage - blue handle tells us both that it is his scissor. But I know exactly what you mean about scissors!

I picked up a half dozen small scissors (kids) when we cleaned out my daughters home last spring. They are spread all over the house and anyone can use them. I find that I use them a lot when I am sewing to cut threads and trim dog ears, etc. My good scissor is used only when a cutting situation calls for using a good scissor.

I never leave my scissors out where anyone can see them. My children and husband learned early on that my scissors were mine alone and they had better leave them alone. Make him buy you another good pair and then hide them.

In his defense, he was IN the sewing room, and he was cleaning up, after making her shelves. However, there are some great ideas here, like using the golf club for a hammer. Chasing Hawk, I love your locked scissors - do you wear the key on a chain around your neck? If I didn't, I'd never be able to find it. This is a fun thread!

I have several scissors on in my sewing room. To prevent misuse, I have put at least 2 pairs of scissors in the kitchen, the guest room, the attic, the garage, my husband's study, and our bedroom. I haven't had my scissors misused since I invested in a few pairs of general purpose scissors for the rest of the house.

I have a lovely sharp pair of Ginghers that hubby knows not to touch. I've always put my older well used Fiskars in a kitchen drawer for everyday use. I bought 4 pair of orange handled Fiskars when they went on sale half price for 6.00 a pair. I hid two of the new pairs in a sewing room drawer and put the other two in the kitchen. He knows to only use scissors with orange handles.

My DH used my fabric scissors to cut the plastic on some electrical insulators when he was working on our fan in the bathroom. His reasoning "oh, I'm sorry but they were so sharp, perfect for this." My next question was "What were you doing digging around in my sewing room for tools?" I was unhappy for days. He did apologize. Now, every time I see him skulking around my sewing area I give him the "I am watching you" eye. LOL

sigh...my "sewing scissors" have been used from everything from cutting linoleum tile to anything needed in the garage for his current habit: gold panning. BUT my good sewing scissors are no where in sight for him to grab, they are hidden unless I need them. Learned that one years ago when he bought me Gingher's and they disappeared. So I saved up bought the most expensive pair I could (years ago, money was tight) and hid em. Bought the orange handled scissors and kept those in sight, so he could grab the "sewing scissors"..LOL

Love the pic of the "locked" Ginghers Chasing Hawk, great idea. The lock is something to consider when gifting a good pair of scissors!

I have written FABRIC ONLY on all of mine and my entire family knows that it is strictly forbidden to use them!
