love the card, and thanks, I hope you have a happy and blessed holiday too. the squirrles are adorable, my mom always takes out the meat (LOL, nut meat not squirrle meat!) and replaces it with a $5 and glues a ribbon on it to hang on the tree for my grandkids.

When I was working I used to make joke nuts"Fun Nuts". I took the meat out of the shells and replaced the meat with a joke and glued the shells back together with a hanging ribbon and painted a funny face on the nut shells. I put them on our unit's Christmas tree. Then when we had our unit Christmas party everyone got to crack open the "Fun nut" and we enjoyed the jokes. It was a lot of fun. Ahh memories !!!!!!

Merry Christmas, Barb!:D You are so thoughtful.
Oh, I have to make a squirrel ornament, they are soooo cute!
Squirrelly has been my nickname since I was 18. Guess who named me and made it stick?
(all the males on both sides still call me that to this day!)

I love to make things out of free stuff. I have been making all kinds of different ornaments or dust collectors from the walnuts since we used to have a small walnut orchard and our son now farms over 100 acres of walnuts. I take a flat head screw driver and carefully pry open the nut shells, remove the nutmeats, then put the shells into a clorox/water bath to kill any worms or insects. Dry the shells and then glue the shells back togather. I use empty egg cartons to keep the nut shells in pairs as they dry. Then before I glue the shells to each other I use my dremel belt sander to flatten where they will be joined together ( like putting a head onto a body or to flatten the base so the character will sit better or so I can add felt feet, etc.) They really get to be addictive when you start making the nuts into little characters.
