We always have 2 meals at Christmas. Christmas morning I fix an egg casserol with sausage, bacon, cheese, red/yellow/green peppers, onions and of course eggs. Then for supper we usually have turkey. But this year I'm going back in time to what my grandmother did. I am ordering a
bbq pork shoulder, with the buns, slaw and dip from a local bbq restaurant. (We live close to the bbq capitol - Lexington, NC)

Do you have a recipe for your egg casserole? I need to make a couple for Christmas morning and I don't have a favorite recipe.

I ask the family what they'd like and we've had mac and chees--homemade, and beef stew with garlic bread before. Another year we had make your own subs! Nothing big here. Simple. Simple. Simple.

We must make Chex Mix--it's tradition!

I have to make a big breakfast for the boys. I make waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit. Then I start with the turkey/stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean cassarole, coleslaw, another veggie?, sweet potatoes, cranberry relish, and either a ham or pork roast. Plus all the goodies, Homemade cheesecake, cookies and pies.

Probably cheesey potatoes and ham balls, turkey or chicken, veggies of some sort, a raw salad of some sort and lots of dessert! None of our families make desserts much anymore so at the holidays we go wild!

I got this far and agreed. We are creatures of habit here.
I make: the turkey, dressing, 2 kinds of mashed potatoes*, gravy, creamed corn, buttered pole beans, and tea.
My desserts are: banana pudding, a cake of some kind, pumpkin pie with cool whip.

oldest daughter brings: rolls, *special dessert for grbaby, cupcakes.

middle daughter: ham, green bean casserole, sweet potato souffle, desserts

youngest daughter: cranberry sauce, extra gravy and rolls, and get here on time. (She used to make the dressing and sometimes turkey, but was always late. Grandbabies thought a holiday was where you stop by nana's and say by.:? )

*we make dishes for one allergic grandbaby! bless her heart.

I think I gain two pounds every time I get a reply notification for this thread. Everything sounds so yummy. Barnbum, does your family like Buffalo chicken wings? I just saw a new recipe for Buffalo Chex Mix. We love Chex Mix too!

Here's a link to breakfast casseroles: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-3566-1.htm I've tried the Charleston one.

We usually have roast turkey & ham with scalloped potatoes (these are great because you can make them up ahead of time and just heat them up...no last minute mashing), squash, stuffing, cranberry sauce, peas & homemade bread. Our meal may not seem fancy but everyone goes away full.
