You are not obligated to give them anything nor are you responsible for this fiscal irresponsibility. But, perhaps, she really does need to feel the joy of giving this year since her life seems out of ocntrol.

JoAnn's is having a sale on polar fleece. 1/4 yard will make a scart to go around the neck. Take your rotary cutter and fringe the ends and you have a fast gift!

How about a nice BIG candy bar? I got a BIG Hershey bar one year and loved it. Than I sent my sisters each one when their birthdays came along and they loved it.

I think the cookie suggestion is a great idea. I also use to keep McDonald's Gift Certificates on hand for quick inexpensive gifts. Even teens like getting them as well as the 8 year old. If you have some left over, you can always use them yourself.

acted surprised and say thank you so much and leave it at that. Have your kids write a thank you note.

I thought the same thing, except Walgreen's has great sales on pencils (Christmas), erasers, note pads, stuff that the kids can use, but don't nickle and dime us to death. Edie

No, she may know that things are tight for you and wanted to help out so that your kids have a good day. But if you bake something for the whole family that would be nice. (if you bake)

I agree with the cookie gift.....I have 3 grands that always have "no-bakes" at top of their list & are really bummed if they don't get them.
