Christmas gifting question...

My sweet DIL gave us an unexpected gife one year for valentine's day. It was a 6-pack of soft drinks with ribbons used to tie on a couple of packs of microwave popcorn and a $5.00 gift certificate for movie rentals.

I wouldn't feel obligated. Just because someone gives you a gift doesn't mean you have to reciprocate right then and there. Maybe at some point down the road, if you want to . . . but even then, I don't think you should feel obligated. I've received gifts from people in the past when I didn't want to get started in a gift-giving relationship. I just said thank you and moved on.

I would hope your friend is giving your children gifts without expecting anything in return. As a friend she should realize that things are thight. I say don't spoil her blessing of giving gifts to your children by giving back to her children. Spme day you will be able to do something for her.Even if is watching her children . Have a Merry Christmas . And be thankful for her friendship
