Yes, you may print the label on plain paper and glue or tape it to the package.
There is no longer a discount, but you can email your Post Office to pick up your parcels the next day from a designated spot. I have a large stone frog planter on my porch and hide my parcels behind her and my carrier picks them up. It's a great service.

yes, you can print the labels on plain paper, then tape them on with clear shipping tape. I cover the entire label so it cannot be ripped by mistake. I think priority envelopes and boxes are set prices, but I save quite a bit on mailing packages ground shipping. You need to measure the box and weigh it, pay for the postage online once it is calculated, and make sure it is well sealed. But the time saved at the post office is another wonder, as well as the money saved.

I send everything "priority mail' always have. For me the post office is only a few blocks away. I understand if the post office is quite a distance. I like the fact for the tracking and my recipients get the package in just a couple days. It's worth the expense to me.
