Do you remember the metal frames we put inside jeans to dry and make a crease in them?
PANT STRETCHERS - sure saved on ironing time.

Hmmmm....some things just can't be duplicated, can they? Fresh sheets off the line get my vote as my favorite too.

I still follow most of those rules when I hang out clothes. Love, love, love crawling into bed at night on clean sheets that have been dried outside and love the scratchiness of line-dried towels after a shower. Too bad it's going to be rainy most of the weekend here. I'm ready for line-dried sheets.

I still hang my wash out when I can. I remember my mother bringing frozen wash and hanging the wash all over the living room to dry out. She would be sick the whole winer.

Back when clothes were hung on the line I don't think we knew what a prevert was. Busybodies yes.

Wow! This brought back memories! We had to hang clothes in the specific way that you mentioned or we would get in trouble! Heaven help us if we did it wrong. My daughter never had to hang out clothes and has sure missed out on a lot of these memories.

We had to iron a lot, too, and sure didn't have a pant's presser to hang them on the clothesline. The creases came with elbow grease!

I live in Florida as well, and because of our beautiful weather the outdoors is perfect for a clothes line. Although I have a dryer I wouldn't dream of using it. I love the fresh smell of sheets and towels coming off the line. My work clothes are put on hangers and dried on a screened in porch where they can get the fresh air as well. There are a lot of habits that are hard to break an most of mine come from the way "things use to be". I often long for the older days when life was more simple, you knew your neighbors and fear of being alone was unknown.

Love your jokes!!!!
