    it's true people are mailing cards and letters less frequently than before the internet, but with the rise of online shopping, there are WAY more packages being sent. Even UPS and FedEX sometimes use the PO for part of the trip.

    you know i've sent so many Birthday cards that to me should require more postage but never seem to. think of all the money they are missing out on!

    It's the jump in package mailing prices that kills me. It's gotten to where it's a sizeable investment to do swaps with other quilters... some require 4 priority mailings! Pretty expensive to shop online, too.

    Postage doesn't bother me but it is the handling charge I object to. The price of the object should reflect the handling and I will base my purchase off the price of the item not be hit with handling fees above the amount of postage. I know what shipping costs are and won't pay over.

    Agree. Imagine the costs of 'stuff' if Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx and other companies had to fund pension/benefits out 70+ years.
