And I think the coffee table needs to be more the color of the walls, it looks like it belongs in one of those wooden walled guest cottages on a big estate.

And I would add two large or 4 smaller pictures beside the one above the sofa. They should be a stronger contrast, either with very dark slashes of clouds perhaps, or very light ones of huge sea shells with some contrast in the pictures. Such as them in the foreground on sand and the ocean crashing towards them in foaming greens and whitish waves. I saw some like that in San Francisco a lot of years ago and wanted them sooo much, but we couldn't let go of that much money at that time. Next time we went they were gone. I'll always remember them.
The coffee table is actually a trunk I covered in fabric when doing our garden theme room. It will go when I figure out a good alternative. But need it for now. I also like your idea of more pictures.

if it's between those two, I would have to vote for the second....

but I think perhaps I would chose something with flowing waters, like waves.

It would give more the feeling of beach.

They are both pretty but I think the 2nd one looks better with the picture above the couch.

    Thanks for your help.
Is your couch taupe or a sagey green????
I was trying to figure out the colors of the piping on the couch too.
Too be honest I think if you would use fabric with different blues and taupe or sage, blues and taupe it would be nice.
I would prefer stripes(but that is just me :-D ) and than continue with those colors through the room. You could use one strong color for accessories .

The couch is green and the original fabric had those colors that you mentioned but floral...just trying to find a way to keep using that sofa and do beach theme. I am thinking aqua shades along with the sand colored walls. The piping is a green/white plaid - I never did think it went well, but that was the trend at the time.

I odd thing is - we will have to chop up this sofa when it leaves the room because it was too big to fit though the door opening so they took out the window to get it in...since then we have new windows and I don't plan on taking them out again.
