    I did one like that for my son but I didn't cut off the old teeth. That worked very well and I didn't need to worry of the old tape would fray. It was done on a heavy jacket so the old teeth were quite un-noticeable when it was finished.

    I admire OnebyOne's restraint in not saying to him: "Why not buy Yourself a sewing machine?" LOL!
    I guess I'm too old school. LOL I would have loved my DH surprising me with a sewing machine back in the day.

    Mine did surprise me with a sewing machine -- a Singer Golden Touch 'n Sew which I still have and love -- but I already sewed and had been for years.
