That sounds wonderful - I will have the Australian equivalent: a terrace house in Paddington

Mine is the best to me!
A nice brick ranch plenty big enough for the 2 of us. This house has a big kitchen and a screened porch. It's in the mid size town of Kokomo IN.
We also have a wonderful mobile home in Norht Fort Myers for winter.
We are retired, and this is bliss!

My dream house is a log chalet type home with an open floor plan, a walk out lower level and a wrap around porch. But my next and last home will be a ranch type with walk-out basement and a loft for my youngest daughter still at home. It will have a very open floor plan with the garage and laundry on the same level. Getting too old for stairs. It will include a large pantry. -- I have 40 acres near Traverse City, Michigan, and the spot to build selected. Just need to sell our current home.

A cottage at the beach! With a fireplace and a wide front porch.

I love the pueblo style homes with all the beautiful arches and tile floors, overlooking the spectacular mountains in New Mexico ... wait, I'm here and loving it!

A log house in the woods with a stream running by. We have a house in the woods, but it is not log and there is no stream.

Oh and perfect weather year-round. As long as I'm wishing... :)
Glass, your response is very much like what I'd say. I like passive solar (my house has that) and good insulation. As far as the yard, I'd like less grass to mow so maybe a nice large water feature (pond with a a little waterfall at the end maybe) and nice flowerbeds that keep themselves weeded or at least aren't filled with weeds like some of mine. Dreaming, dreaming, dreaming.

Pine woods wrapped on 3 sides but open to the west so I can watch storms coming in. Large porches, huge windows, wood stove, open floorplan with huge kitchen.....
