This is what I need to do as the timer on the stove I have now doesn't ring too loudly and I can't hear it when I'm on the other side of the house. The timer on the last stove I had was really loud, DH said it sounded like a truck backing up.

when I was a kid I use to burn the potatos all the time. Put them on and then go out to the back yard to play.. I got in trouble all the time for not watching them while they cooked. I have occasionallly burned a pot or two cooking eggs but not to the extent of ruining the stove.

Oh I'm so sorry. Many times I put something on the stove and then go to the computer. Then I remember and take off running for the kitchen as fast as I can go. Came close to burning things but always remember just in time.

Not eggs, but potatoes frequently. Always have too much going on at the same time. Getting too old for multi tasking. Sorry about your stove, that hurts.

I've not burned eggs on a glass top. I have burned plenty of stuff on the gas stove.
If you soak your burned on gunk in the pan with water and dishwasher soap overnight, it should be mostly loose in the morning.

Oh my...I am so sorry about your stove....Yes, I have done stuff like this, though my worst habit is putting water for tea in the kettle and forgetting about it. Due to my ability to forget about things on the stove, I usually try to sit at the dining room table and work on something (hand work of some kind) when I am cooking....I am just too forgetful to leave the kitchen...except for some reason, I feel comfortable leaving my kettle!!! Need to break that habit too....

    Me, too! Me, too!
I don't use a whistling tea kettle anymore because DH can't hear the high pitch. Instead I have glass nuggets/globs (flat marbles) in the metal kettle. When the water boils they jump around and I can hear that noise anywhere in the house.
