I was making up recipes in jars for my bazaars coming up.
While searching this site for just the right recipes I had an idea.
I was making up bean soup mixes and it occurred to me that this would be GREAT for our own pantry. Not in jars, but in bags. (We have a sealer) I am going to make up the beans/dry ingredients and seal them up on store them in a large container in the cabinet. Labeled of course. Then whenever DH wants a crock of soup he can just toss in some meat, veggies, and broth and let her rip! Even at the office, as I am going to make up some smaller portion bags just for him!
It only took me an hour to make up 24 qt jars of soup mixes...that is 24 meals 1/2 way done!
that means MORE sewing time later on!

check out all the stuff they have on this site, NOT just the recipe link I have posted!

I figure if the fixings are prepped, DH or son could easily toss in some meat, that I will also have cooked, diced and frozen, and they can add water..toss it into the crock pot in the morning and bam..dinner when they get home at night!

THen NOBODY has to interfere with MY sewing time!

Have you tried salad in a jar? If you have a sealer with a wide-mouth jar attachment, you can store prepared salad in a jar in the fridge for 14 days! Also makes it very easy to make up salads for work ahead of time, then grab-n-go in the morning.

the salad looks interesting..but since I can not eat any raw leafy veggies, they would go to waste in my house!

WOW! Thanks so much you clever ladies! If I plan it just right there will be no need for me to ever leave my sewing room! Unfortunately, I find that I am spending way too much time playing on my computer- -looking at these websites that are such great time savers and with such good ideas for new projects and lovely fabrics and on and on and on...LOL
