My new year's resolution last year was to once a month cook something out of a cookbook that I've never made. I have clipped recipes for years but have never made them, and I enjoy trying new things. It's kind of fun getting out of your rut!

Right now I'm looking for WWII era cookbooks.

Yes...I have too many and am running out of room! But mine are not all that old, except for one or two that I got years ago...one my eldest son wants one of them when I am no longer around...he calls it " the cookbook".

Yes, almost two tall bookcases full. Oldest one is 67 years old, from Grandmother. I quit buying them, cause everything is on internet these days. Including California Noodle Pudding, and pork&beans cake.

Yes, I'm always on the lookout for an old cookbook and pick them up at garage sales. I agree that the "church ladies" cookbooks are the best.

I also made my kids a "Favorite Family Recipes" cookbook for Christmas one year. All the recipes they grew up with. I used Printshop to type the recipes, added plenty of family photos and gave credit to the family member a recipe came from - along with a pic of them (Great Gmas, Gmas, Sisters). I printed on both side of the paper, laminated them and had them spiral bound.

Problem was that when my (5) sisters saw the book, they wanted one too. When their daughters saw it, they wanted one too. I had to start using page protectors though - it's less expensive. Double sided color pages uses a lot of ink.

I got Grandma's cookbook! It was hiding in a cabinet at her new apartment. I even got a church cookbook from the church I currently attend and grew up going to. It is from the 1960's. I recognize a lot of the family names and even see a few of them in church still!
I think I need to eliminate a few of the books that aren't church/community cookbooks. I just don't use or look at them. I'm having too much fun here on the QB!

Craftybear collects cookbooks??!! What a shock!!!! NOT - I was thinking we should rename the recipe section, Craftybear's Corner!! She has all the best recipes.

I love cookbooks too. My oldest is a Mrs. Beetons from the 1800's. Love the ads in the back.

I do have a small collection now, had a much larger collection but got rid of a bunch. I have NO idea why I collect them, BECAUSE I absolutely HATE to cook. LOL

I have a large cookbook that is the 4th printing of a first addition. It is from 1976 and has very old recipes. It is the Better Homes & Gardens Heritage cookbook. It is very heavy. I would love to sell it to someone who collects old cookbooks.
