Do you collect recipe books?

Oh yeah.....my collection of recipe books is only surpassed by my collection of quilt books, painting (tole and oil) books, stained glass books and then crocheting books :mrgreen: :mrgreen: And I LOVE the recipe books from the good old days when they used LARD!!!!!! But I DO buy new ones, too. I really like the ones for $1.00 at Joann's!!! Have had many compliments on my cooking when I've made recipes from them!

I have soo many they are in boxes Some are soo old I don't even know what the ingredient is they are talking about.?? lol lol I had a friend that was a truck driver and was always bringing me cookbooks. How nice was that??? I keep trying to organize them but I keep getting in deeper or someone will give me more books?? lol lol

I love my recipe books and been organizing them by type (I have lot of Pillsbury, old Betty Crocker,etc.)
Also I have been collecting the Best of the Best cookbooks by states as you can find them at Cracker Barrell restaurant gift shop.

I collect old cookbooks but they are becoming more expensive and harder to find. I have one from the turn of the century and it has a recipe for meringue where you add asbestos to make the peaks stand up. Plus, other interesting recipes such as how to bleach the skin, and the use of morphine to help fight opium withdrawals. Many of the ingrediants are no longer available or illegal.

I have quite a few books. I'm also in the middle of writing my own recipe book. My collection consist of all my mothers recipes and grandmothers recipes and of course mine. Hubby has a few from his mom also. Will be a wonderful legacy for our kids one day.

Thought I was the only one (besides my sister) who loves old cookbooks. I read them like a regular book. I have an old Betty Crocker cookbook from my Grandmother that tells you how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. LOL
