I used to decorate for T'gvng, but in recent years my dining room table seems to be home to my sewing machine and quilting projects this time of the year.

I just do the tablerunner and wallhanging for fall and switch out for Christmas. My "tree" is a walhanging too. My house is too small and family too big for more. I have been blessed indeed!

I love to decorate for Christmas, but now that I am older and working full time, I find it hard to get up the energy to do it. Since we don't have anyone here but us, I guess it doesn't really make sense. I do find it kind of sad and like we really didn't have a holiday when I don't decorate, but we'll see how I feel in a few weeks.

I just take down the cobwebs that I leave up for October decorations and call it good.

When I was rearing my children, I had Turkey shaped candy dishes that we put out. And fall flower arrangements on the dining room table and the living room cocktail table. But mostly, I spent hours polishing silver and getting the crystal ready for the Thanksgiving Dinner. When the children were small we had them research the history of the earliest settlers and their hardships - and of course, we had extra practice on table manners because we didn't have formal meals very often and they didn't have soup spoons, bread knives, salad forks, etc. For a little child it is daunting to see 7 pieces of silverware at the plate. Now that they are all grown up and some have their own grandchildren I think a few of them still have to review their table manners before they go to a formal meal! LOL
