For a few years we lived in a house that was built in the 1960's that had lavender and purple tile in a bathroom, so I had reason to buy purple towels and bathmats. I loved that bathroom, actually, but probably would not do that "decisive" a color if I was adding something long term to a house. In our present house there is a wallpaper border in one bedroom that has wisteria flowers. After 6 years I've had enough. The purplish color is only part of the issue there.

When I was growing up my house had an deep purple bathroom. Purple is my favorite color, so after I got married my bedroom was purple for the first 14 years. My in-laws redid their bath last fall and used a soft plum with ecru in it. I'm a Realtor and I see all shades of purples used it a lot of homes.

I have purple ON my house. Our colors are green and purple. Sometimes I think it looks rather like the Joker in the first Batman movie...but it works! My DHs favorite color is purple but we don't have a purple room. I do use purple in my quilts, though.

When I was first married several years ago - I painted my bathroom a very soft lilac color - it had a built in old painted wooden cabinet - so painted it lilac also - and put black paint on the doors - then I decorated with flourescent purple/pink flamingos and used purple towels - it was so striking - it didn't take long before I had my girlfriends copying after what I had done - we all had old pained cabinets in our houses, so short of taking all the paint off - we just painted over - was very appealing to most. Even my mother loved it -
