Yes, we have a feeder hanging on the outside edge of our patio. They are such fun to watch! We had a few stay all winter and now they are coming in multiples. The larger ones chase the smaller ones away so sometimes it is quite an airshow. My recipe for syrup is 1/2 cup sugar to two cups water. I put the sugar in first then fill up to the 2 cup mark and microwave to boil so the sugar dissolves, then I let it cool. I wash out the feeder and then refill.

I have just cheap feeders from Walmart up and I get bunches of hummingbirds. I have only seen one so far this year but it is still terribly cold and windy here. I do make my own necter from 4 parts water one part suagar.

We have hummingbirds, but no feeders. They go for the flowers.

We have had hummers for many years. Make my own liquid 4 to 1, Haven't had any this year. Could be because of the weather. Love watching them. My friends daughter in Cal. had one make a nest in her back yard and hatched 2 babies. Waiting for pictures. Will post them

I too live in TN, and smack dab on the migratory chart I guess. I thought I had a great deal, of about 50, but I see others have more. They usually are sited, only a few in the last of March or First of April. Then I usually see them again around June to October. I have about 11 feeders I put out, and when it is the busy time I fill them every day or every other day. Most of the feeders we put on the front covered porch, it is 50 ft long, with all of our trees and bushes, they seem to love it. We love watching them and taking photos.

My daughter is crazy about hummers! When she lived down by the river, she would have dozens feeding and flying across her porch. If the feeders were empty, they would stop right in front of her face, or hover by her door until she came out and refilled them. I didn/'t believe her until I had one stop no more than 15 inches from my face and chatter at me. There were so many we could sit and watch them fly back and forth to the trees, and actually sdee them on the limbs. Now she is back in the city and only sees one or two at a time. She hated it at the river, but loved those hummers. She also had wild ducks that would come peck at her door to be fed!

I read on this board to put vaseline on the poles so the ants don't crawl up on them.
