Do you know people that have no idea about email/internet/?

Before a member joins our guild it's clearly stated that all newsletter/classes/announcements will be by email and posted on the guild website. The guild has a website that is updated weekly. No one has the time to send out individual mailings to everyone. Members join and then complain about it. They are asked maybe they would like to be in charge of getting the mailings to those that want them. They say no they don't have the time to do all that. That's when I lose patience with their complaints.

One could always start a new group for email using people only. Then phone calls and regular mail won't be necessary or expected by some members and so they won't be a bother to members with technology. It seems sad to me to eliminate others thoughts, knowledge and expertise simply because they don't have technology for whatever reason. Email may be a basic item to some, but to others it is still a new idea that they are not ready to embrace as a necessity in their life. Compassion for others should not be deemed an inconvience.

Seriously? There's gotta be someone who can take what - an hour of their week to mail out a few newsletters to those who do not have computers in their home? There can't be THAT many of them.
I'd do it and I'd probably pay for the postage just to be nice about it.
I use to do a Navy command newsletter for 88 families on a submarine it didn't take THAT much time out of my week to mail those things out.

I also saw, after I posted before, you said that you've offered up for someone to take the job of sending them out - if so and no one offers up then don't let it bother you. That's their issue not yours.

My Mom does everything on the internet (in her 70"s) but my Dad just barely touches it. My Mom even keeps me posted on family thru Facebook (I deleted my account recently - just not interested). So I guess everyone has their way of communication devices.

I teach computer classes at our local library. It's so odd the different types of people you get. We have people in their 40's who have never used it but now must because that's how you sign up for unemployment in our county. We have people in their 70's that want to get pictures of grandkids far away.
It seems to be a mind set not an age. Some learn. Some don't. Some seem honestly frightened of it.
I wonder what "new" thing will come along and freak my generation out when we are older?
