This is one I gave my son when his (Our) pet dog of 18 years passed to the rainbow bridge. He even used it in college in his elementary Ed classes.

It is about a boy getting a puppy and their life together until the end.
    Sweet book too.

I enjoyed the book Rescuing Sprite. It's comforting to see someone express: I still love that dog, it was hard to let go and I'll always remember him.

Out of all the pets I've lost over the years, the hardest were the two that died young. In that way, it's just like people. You map out a future together in your head. And, bam! You feel like it's been stolen.

Sorry about Bitsy. Love the name.

I'm going to look at this one, too.
I have a grandbaby that still talks about her, 'Little Miss'.
She would probably like both books.

yes, that is exactly how I feel. People were so kind, but some thought, "oh, good thing you didn't have her very long."
I feel just the opposite. For five and a half months she was my almost constant companion.
She greeted me with bright eyes and wagging tail every morning and jumped around so glad it was time to be together, and she followed me around all day long, giving me sweet kisses and making me laugh, and every night, we had a bedtime routine.
I was so thankful that she did not 'go', while in the hospital, after being separated for two days.
She waited on her mommy and we went, just the two of us to the specialist 70 miles away, and during the ride, she stayed close to my side on her blankie.
when we got there, I never left her side, nor took my hand away from beside hers.
I was the last image until she saw the Rainbow and all of your furbabies and pets coming to greet her. hugs

    So sorry for your loss.

I heard about Rainbow Bridge when our granddog died and the gal who pet sat for them gave our son and daughter in law a pic of "Dakota" and the poem in a frame. It brought tears to my eyes. It still sits on their book shelf.

Thank you for sharing and the wonderful resource that has helped you so much.

I am getting this book shortly. I know how it hurts to lose a furry friend. The pain lessens with time but not the memories.

Sorry about your little furbaby. It hurts to lose one. We
lost our beloved kitty Chablis 8 years ago, and we still
miss him. My sister sent me a copy of the Rainbow Bridge,
made me cry but also made me feel better. Now we have 3
cats to replace him (so we thought, but hes irreplaceable),
and these guys are dearly loved too.

I am so sorry for you loss; I too have many waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. We will all be joyously reunited at some point in the future. I miss my George, Christopher, Pepper, Beau and the others. Always in my heart . . .

    Dear quiltncrazy,

Time is a great healer but it takes a while. In the meantime I hope you find comfort in these words I've posted for others. DI

    A Special Place

You have a special place, Dear Lord, that I know you'll always keep
A special place reserved for dogs when they quietly fall asleep.
With large and airy kennels and a yard for hiding bones
And maybe a little babbling creek that chatters over stones.
With wide green fields and flowers for those who never knew
About running freely underneath Your sky of perfect blue.
Lord, I know You keep this Special Place and so to You I pray,
For one Special Bitsy who quietly died today.
She was full of strength and love and so very, very wise,
The puppy look she once had had long since left her eyes.
So, speak to Bitsy softly, please, and give her a warm hello
She's a Special gift to You Dear Lord from her mama, who loved her so.
