    I think this may be a boot scraper. You put it outside your door and you're supposed to scrape your shoes before you come in.

    It looks like a boot scraper. Farmers and ranchers use them to scrape the mud/cow patties off their boots before entering the house.

    This dog is only 6" wide....way too small for a boot scraper, log holder, newspaper, etc......Several said its a pencil holder and that suits it best. :thumbup:
