I few years ago I made a hot choc. mix for family gifts. I bought the large cocoa mix at Sam's(was cheaper than mixing up my own) and added a container of powdered flavored creamer to it. It was a big hit with everyone. We have also done drink mixes using disposable decorater bags. i found a little book with recipes in it that the kids used to make gifts for their friends.

Here's one my mom made probably 40 years ago--and I make fairly often.. (my college age niece has requested it a couple of time when she's feeling under the weather....Feels good on sore throat. Also consider these options for packaging: Cleaned jars from products like creamer (I like milk bottle shape)....bags made from washed fabric (muslin, good.) I've also made special coffee mix, but will have to find recipe. (I usually include recipe with gift)

    Russian Tea Mix

1 1/3 cups Tang Brand Orange Flavor Drink Mix
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/3 cup instant tea*
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

*Or substitute lemon-flavored unsweetened instant tea, presweetened iced tea mix or lemon-flavored sugar free iced tea mix.

Mix drink mix, sugar, tea and spices in medium bowl. Store in tightly covered jar. Makes 2 cups mix.

For 1 serving, place 1 tablespoon mix into cup. Add 3/4 cup boiling water. Stir until mix is dissolved.

For 4 servings (1 quart), place 1/3 cup mix into heat-proof pitcher or bowl. Add 1 quart boiling water. Stir until mix is dissolved. Serve with lemon wedges, if desired.

    Makes 32 (1 tablespoon) servings

I love your idea about the fabric in a jar. I have purchased two panels as a Christmas gift and will put it in a mason jar....how cool, thanks

When you make a quilt, keep all the scraps and put them in a jar to give along with the quilt. They look really pretty in a glass jar. I hate throwing anything away.

I took a class where the teacher saved all of her small pieces and put them in decorative clear vases/jars and used them to decorate, add interest to her sewing room shelves.
