I also use a fan. I live on a busy, noisy street so it helps reduce the noise while cooling down the hot, and I mean hot room.

My DH has a box fan running every night, year round! Our typical summer night: Window air conditioner, box fan, and ceiling fan. Our typical winter night: box fan next to the bed on the highest setting and the register closed. Needless to say, I love my "down" comforter.

I can't stand a fan blowing directly on my face - my eyes get too dry. We do have the celing fan on all the time and when it's really hot an oscillating fan is great as long as it's off my face.

Wow - its nice to know I'm not the only one, lol. I run a fan at night for the white noice and the air movement. I get so hot when there is no air moving.

Of course there is a fan on! We have A/C but I have to feel air moving. And we can keep the A/C at a cost-saving temperature that way.

We are trying to be "green" so our AC is set on 78 and during the hot months we run the ceiling fan on low in the bedroom. Another thought on being "green" is that ceiling fans cool people NOT rooms. So during the day we turn off room fans when we are not going to be in there. My sewing room faces South and was so hot. We had tinting put on the windows and put a ceiling fan in also. Really helps.

No Mam' I have to do the same thing. We visited some friends that live in the country. The only noise was the crickets! It wasn't the same! I like to have never got to sleep!
