Same here at our house. I am terrified of them and I even went to the Extension office and took a class to try to get over my fear.

I have an electric one and believe me, it is idiot proof or I wouldn't have bought it. My mother used a regular one, but I have always been scared that I would blow one up, so I would never purchase one. The electric one is failsafe and everything comes out great and tender. Cooks great beans and soups, too. I highly recommend one.

I have an electric one and it is sooooo much better than the kind that sit on the stove. Much quieter.

I use a pressure cooker some. I use it to can veggies in the
summer and few other things. I don't change the recipe. Just
make sure there is enough water in it.

    Just made the beef stew...

    Learned something!

IF THERE ARE SCREWS ON THE LID - CHECK THEM - MAKE SURE THEY'RE TIGHT. (mine were loose - all is well)

I even wrote up a reminder 3x5 card so I don't forget to check each time. I'll keep it in the pot.

I use mine a good amount of time. Mine is electric too and much safer to use, as it moderates itself based on the temp you set it. It came with a nice cookbook too!

I have 2 regular size ones and the big one for canning vegetables and I love them all. I forgot about one years ago and it blew but it was no big deal, just had a mess to clean up. I don't think I could cook without one.

I have one and absolutely love it!! It is a an electric digital one. I would never have one with the valve on top. The electric one can be used for a slow cooker, steamer or pressure cooker. Food is done so fast and tastes great. Bought five of them for Christmas presents.
