Do you use a pressure cooker?

Going to use mine right now for dinner.
If you're afraid to use your's for food, try putting a couple of cups of water in there and 'run it through a cycle'. Make sure to have enough moisture in there to cook and don't overfill it.

I've never used one for cooking, but used one a lot for
canning. I don't use it anymore, can by waterbath. I have
an electric range and seems it is difficult for me to control the gauge...doesn't change the range top temperture
quick enough.

pressure cooker was a wedding present 40 years ago. Used it regularly back then. It was a necessity when camping. Used less fuel and was fast & easy. Used it to sterilize baby bottles too! Still use it for a fast mal now & then Have a bit of trouble getting the rubber ing. Jane

Used to have one back in the 70's. Loved it until it exploded. Scared to death of them. My DH found a new use for it. It was the best popcorn popping pan. Of course the rubber was off the lid and the lid sat on the pan loosely while he jumped the popcorn up and down. It got to be the best pop corn ever made by anyone according to our nieces and nephews when they visited. Made popcorn in that pot many many years. They still ask about his popcorn.

I have used a pressure cooker since the 50's. I know for a fact that you do have to follow the directions and be VERY respectful of it. Put the correct amount of water in it and watch the heat. I'm not afraid of it at all. I also have a pressure canner and use it also. YOU MUST BE VERY RESPECTUL of it and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.

Scared me to death because I remember seeing a pressure cooker blow it's lid off at a friend's house when I was growing up.
So I've never had the guts to use one.
But her dinner was done so quickly and everything was so tender that I'm trying to talk myself into getting one and trying it too.
Does anyone here use one?
Do you have to change your recipes at all?

I love them, have done massive canning and cooking in both mine. I also would never move from stove to sink to relieve pressure. could be very dangerous... Important is stay close get pressure regulated and have tender beef for been stew in 20 min. I've never had a problem... CAN't over fill and should not use pepper... pepper can actully clog vent ....
